6. Do I have to be admitted to K-State before I receive assistance?

Yes, you must be admitted into a degree-seeking program. Your application for financial aid can be processed once you have been notified by the Office of Admissions that you have been admitted to K-State. Special and nondegree seeking students are not eligible for financial assistance or scholarships.

7. Since I'm transferring, will my financial aid checks be at K-State next semester?

Not automatically. You will need to follow the procedures described in number 5. Depending on how soon you have begun the process to have your financial aid information sent to K-State, your checks may or may not arrive in time for the start of the semester, so plan accordingly.

8. I have previous student loans. Do I need to do anything for them?

Yes. You will want to obtain an in-school deferment form from the holder of your loans. Submit that form to the Registrar's Office at K-State. Be sure to complete your information first. The registrar will complete the certification portion of the deferment. You will then need to mail the in-school deferment(s) to each of your loan holders.

9. How do I check my admissions status?

Call the Office of Admissions (785-532-6250 or 1-800-432-8270) to see what we need to complete your application. Keep in mind that it takes a few weeks to process a complete application. If you haven't heard from K-State within four weeks of submitting your application, please contact us.

10. How do I change my major once the application is submitted?

We can list most majors on your admission record. You just need to send an e-mail that indicates which major(s) you want to add or remove from your application. Make sure you include the last four digits of your social security number and the name of your transfer college so we make changes to the proper record.

E-mail k-state@k-state.edu

11. Can I send my application fee separate from my online application?

If you choose not to pay with a credit card/debit card/electronic check, you may send a personal check or money order to our office. Include a note with your full name, birthdate, and either high school or college of attendance. Fee waivers are also available, but only in special circumstances. Or you can download a form and mail it in with payment, if you prefer.

12. I won't have 24 hours until the end of the upcoming semester. Do I still need to send a high school transcript with my application?

You need to indicate on your admissions application that you will have 24 credits completed at the time of attendance at K-State, and we can admit you on a partial official transcript. If you have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at the time we receive the final official transcript, you will be evaluated on a combination of your college grade points and qualified admission standards. Then we will need to see your high school transcript and ACT/SAT test scores.

13. I was admitted last year but did not attend. Do I need to apply again?

Yes. You need to re-apply for admission. If you were admitted and have not attended another college since then you will not have to re-send your official transcripts. If you have attended another institution, you will need to have those records sent to us in order to complete your application. If you previously paid the admissions application fee, you may not need to pay it again.

14. I was accepted at K-State but attended another school. Do I have to apply again?

Yes, you will have to re-submit an application for the new term you wish to enter K-State.

15. Can I spend the night or attend class?

We do not currently have any overnight visits available. If you have a personal connection with a K-State student you can stay with, we recommend you contact them directly. If you want to sit in on class, you should contact our campus visit office several weeks in advance of your visit. You need to specifically request to visit a class, otherwise our visit office will set you up with a faculty/advisor departmental appointment.
