MILITARY AND FAMILIES

Why K-State?

• A Big 12 education. You’ll study at an acclaimed university with name recognition. You can take advantage of all the offerings of a big-time school: lots of degree programs, outstanding research opportunities, vibrant campus life, nationally competitive sports teams, and more.

• Convenience. It’s only a 15-minute drive from Fort Riley to attend classes on campus. Or you can sign up for an online degree. You choose the option that works best with your schedule.

• Hundreds of degrees. You’ll find a degree that fits. K-State offers more than 250 undergraduate majors and options, and graduate students can choose from more than 100 master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs.

• Special tuition adjustment. Military personnel stationed on active duty in Kansas and their dependents can attend classes at the in-state rate.

Get admitted

Interested in K-State? Your first step is to apply for admission. The admissions process will vary slightly according to the type of student you are.

Undergraduate students

If you have not attended a college or university since completing high school—or if you have completed fewer than 12 college credit hours—follow the instructions for new freshmen.

If you earned a GED rather than a traditional high school diploma, follow the instructions for GED students.

If you have completed college-level work after high school, follow the instructions for transfer students.

If you previously attended K-State and are returning after a semester or more off, follow the instructions for returning students.

Graduate students

If you’ll be working toward a master’s degree, doctoral degree, or other graduate certification, contact the Graduate School.

Online learning students

If you’ll be earning your degree or taking courses online, check out the degree options and fill out an information request form with the Division of Continuing Education.

Costs

K-State offers a tuition adjustment for military personnel stationed on active duty in Kansas and their dependents. Instead of paying out-of-state tuition, you’ll pay the same price as Kansas students. That can save you around $325 per credit hour at the undergraduate level.
