Precollege curriculum

4 One unit of English for each year of high school
Natural sciences
3 Choose three units from: Advanced Biology, Biology, Earth/space science, Chemistry, Physics (At least one unit must be chemistry or physics)
Math
3 Three units at or above the level of Algebra I

If you graduated in 2006 and after, courses completed in middle school or junior high school don't count toward the math requirements.
Social sciences
3 One unit of U.S. history

One-half unit of U.S. government

One unit selected from:
Psychology, Economics, Civics, History, Current social issues, Sociology, Anthropology, Race and ethnic group relations

One-half unit selected from: World history, World geography, International relations
Computer technology
1 One unit of computer technology

One unit = 1 year or 2 semesters


This curriculum helps prepare you for university-level work.

Kansas residents must earn a 2.0 or higher GPA on the precollege curriculum. Out-of-state residents must earn a 2.5 or higher GPA.

Use the list of course requirements above as your guide. Be sure to ask your high school counselor which courses in your high school meet these requirements. The specific courses may vary from school to school.

If transcripts are submitted before high school graduation, course schedules for ungraded semesters should be included.
