TRANSFER STUDENTS

Are you a transfer student?

For admissions purposes, you are considered a transfer student if you have completed college-level course work after high school.

When you’re ready to make your move to K-State, get the ball rolling early. We recommend you apply for admission six months to a year before you want to start classes. However, for most academic programs, you can apply within three months before the semester begins.

Most selective admission programs have an early admission date. You’ll still be able to enroll up to one week before a semester starts, but allowing yourself time for the necessary steps will save you some stress.

Follow these steps if you are an international student (typically on an F1, J1, or J2 visa)

How to apply

1. Submit the K-State admissions application with the $30 application fee.

If you apply on the web, your payment will need to be submitted using credit, debit, or an electronic check. Applications are also available from your high school or college counselor.

2. Have official college transcripts sent for all your college-level credits.

Have the registrar's office at the college(s) you've attended mail, fax, or send an authorized electronic transcript to the K-State Office of Admissions. If you completed college-level work during high school, you are also required to provide official college transcripts. You may have them faxed to us at 785-532-6393. If your registrar's office uses an electronic transcript provider, send them to k-state@k-state.edu.

3. Have your official high school transcripts sent, if needed.

If you are younger than 21, and if you have earned fewer than 24 hours of college-level credit by the time you plan to attend K-State, have your high school mail, fax, or send an authorized electronic transcript. Request that ACT (www.ACT.org) send your official test results to K-State (college code 1428). SAT (www.collegeboard.com) scores may substitute for ACT scores (college code 6334).

First semester of college credit: If this is your first semester taking college courses, do not send a college transcript until the current semester ends and grades are recorded on the transcript.

Previous college credit: If you have completed college courses at the school you are now attending, have your transcript sent now and again after your current semester ends and grades are recorded on the transcript. A partial transcript is often sufficient to allow us to make an early admission decision and to begin the transfer credit evaluation for degree requirements.

Note: Transcripts are required from all colleges you've attended, regardless of whether credit appears on another school transcript; credits apply to your degree; you enrolled and withdrew; received no credit; or received failing grades.
