LEADERSHIP

Leadership doesn't mean being bossy, overly exuberant, and overcommitted. It's not about holding the highest office or having the most items on your plate. Most leaders are everyday people who are respected for their hard work, smart ideas, and strong commitment.

Leaders roll up their sleeves, work hard, and motivate the group to make things happen. K-State can help you develop and improve the leadership skills needed to find the right job. Opportunities to be a leader at K-State are easy to find.

What's the K-State difference?

  • With more than 400 student organizations on campus, there is a club for you. Bike across the Flint Hills with the cycling club, help build a house with Habitat for Humanity, get active with your departmental organization, or create your own club.
  • Want to see some changes on campus? Run for student senate or serve on a university committee. You'll allocate millions each year to student organizations and activities on campus. The National Association for Campus Activities has named K-State's Student Governing Association the nation's best large school SGA three times since 1995.
  • Do you want your leadership experience documented on your transcript? Take some leadership courses and earn the minor in leadership studies, the largest academic program on campus.
  • Get involved where you live. Residence halls, fraternities and sororities, and scholarship houses are great places to hone your leadership skills by planning social and charity events.
  • Our students have won acclaim for community service projects on campus, throughout Kansas, and around the globe. Sleep out on Bosco Plaza to raise money for homeless causes, develop a recycling center in a Kansas town, or teach elementary students English in Jordan.
  • Attend workshops and guest lectures with speakers ranging from U.S. presidents to top industry leaders to get in touch with the perspectives of today's leaders.
