Religion at K-State
Keep the faith
K-State students and faculty encompass a variety of religious beliefs. From full churches to small discussion groups, there is something for everyone here. So whether you’re searching for a church, a club, a service opportunity, or just religious education, you can find what you’re looking for at K-State.
Clubs
Religious groups at K-State are as diverse as the students themselves. And not only do the clubs cover many religions, they also offer exciting new activities and experiences.
- In response to Hurricane Katrina, students from Christian Challenge and Campus Crusade for Christ spent part of their Christmas break putting up drywall, cutting down trees, and clearing debris from homes in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Pass Christian, Mississippi.
- Students in the Muslim Student Association gather for daily prayers at the Islamic Center of Manhattan and set up a dawah table every week in the Union to teach others about Islam.
- Students from KSU Christian Challenge helped with disaster relief in Indonesia after the 2004 tsunami.
- Hillel, the Jewish student organization, meets weekly for coffee and conversation. The group also hosts parties, events, and occasional Shabbat services.
- The Religion Bowl, an annual religious trivia competition, allows students of all beliefs to share their knowledge of world religions.

Courses
Although K-State does not offer a religious studies program, many departments teach courses on religions and related issues. Classes about religious history, social implications, controversy, and current issues can be found in departments such as anthropology, biology, history, philosophy, psychology, and women’s studies. Although many classes incorporate religious topics, here are a few that focus on religion. Courses vary by semester, so check the course schedule to see what’s being offered.
