Res hall redo: Make a candy dish
Recycle your records into a cool candy dish. Don't have a sweet tooth? Use it as a desk caddy.
Do this
1. Place the can upside down in the oven.
2. Center the record on top.
3. Bake at 350 for about a minute. Watch carefully; older records may take longer to melt.
4. When the vinyl droops in to a bowl shape, remove it from the oven. You’ll have about 20 seconds if you want to adjust the shape.
5. Let the dish cool. Fill with candy, keys, change, or whatever.
Why it’s cool
You can customize the dish for the event. A Metallica LP dish is awesome for potato chips at your “Monday Night Football” bash, and a Cyndi Lauper LP dish is perfect for Oreos during “Gilmore Girls” reruns.
Hot tip: Always keep the dish filled. Otherwise your friends will say, “Dude, I can’t believe you nuked a perfectly good Vanilla Ice LP.”
