We've got game
The real football pre-game show takes place in the parking lots.
K-State’s pre-game cookout parties are legendary. You’ll see purple-painted faces, cars swathed in banners, and people teetering on stilts. Here are some tips:
- Arrive early for a prime spot.
- Wear purple. Duh.
- Bring lawn chairs. Or even a sofa—if you want all the comforts of home.
- Mark your spot with something distinctive so your friends can spot you in the sea of purple.
- Think theme. Unleash your inner party planner. If we’re playing Colorado, eat buffalo. If we’re about to skunk Texas, eat steak.
- Cook the hard stuff at home. Save the easy stuff—like brats—for the stadium grill. Want to come off like Martha Stewart—pre-prison–without a lot of suffering in the kitchen? Try this recipe:
Quick and easy crustless quiche
3 eggs
1/3 cup margarine
1/2 cup Bisquick baking mix
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp dried onion
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup chopped ham
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup shredded cheese
Mix eggs, margarine, Bisquick, milk, onion, salt, and pepper. Pour into a bowl; add ham, mushrooms, and cheese. Pour into a 9-inch pie pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
