Res hall redo: make a T-shirt pillow

Add comfort to your residence hall room and remember something—or someone—important to you with a T-shirt pillow. Grab your favorite tee from high school (or steal one from your boyfriend), and get crafty.

Get this

  • An old T-shirt
    Polyester stuffing (six bags)
Needle and thread (or sewing machine)
    Scotchgard spray

Picture of tools

Do this

  • 1. Wash the shirt. (Duh.)
    2. Sew the bottom of the sleeves closed.
    3. Stuff the shirt as tight as you can.
    4. Sew the neck shut.
    5. Spray the pillow lightly with Scotchgard to protect it from your drool.

Why it’s cool

Your T-shirts document your life. That Backstreet Boys shirt keeps you in touch with your inner child, a high school sports jersey proves your previous prowess, and your honey’s shirt reminds you of the hottie you left at home.
