  NATIONAL LEADER K-State is on the frontline in the war on terror with the new Biosecurity Research Institute, a $54 million facility recently dedicated in honor of Sen. Pat Roberts, a K-State alum.

Roberts was among the first to raise the specter of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, and in a Landon Lecture he touted K-State as the leader in food safety research initiatives. Read more.
 
Cats beat Texas Fast facts K-State boasts 32 of the 80 freshmen recipients of the state's Dole Public Service Scholarship, with the most in both years of the award (17 in 2005,
15 in 2006). The scholarship is given on the basis of public service and community involvement.
