How to go Greek
Before becoming part of the Greek community at K-State, you need to think recruitment. Here’s how the process works:
At a glance
Women: The recruitment process is formal and takes place the week before fall classes start. You’ll tour all 11 houses that participate in formal recruitment, then join a sorority on bid day at the end of the week.
Men: The fraternity process is informal. You’ll go to a few barbecues or parties, usually in the spring and summer, and then you’re invited to join. You can visit as many fraternities as you’d like, and there is no deadline for joining.

The first step to joining is to sign up. It’s easy!
Women: You can register online for formal recruitment, but get it done soon. Registration ends August 1.
Men: You’ll fill out an online bio card that will be sent to all 24 fraternities at K-State. You can do this anytime, anywhere—anywhere there’s a computer, that is.
If you’re interested in joining a multicultural fraternity or sorority, you’ll go through a separate process called intake.

After you show your interest, sit back and relax for a bit.
Women: After you’ve sent your registration form, you can start to build your K-State sorority IQ. In June you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail with more info about recruitment week and tips about what to bring.

Men: After the fraternities receive your bio card, the recruitment chairs will call or e-mail and send you more info about their fraternity and upcoming parties and barbeques. Don’t hesitate to contact the recruitment chairs yourself. That way the fraternity will know you’re interested. But try to visit more than one to make sure you find the right fit.

Cost
Get in gear this summer: That summer job will come in handy when recruitment rolls around.
Women: There is a $65 registration fee for recuitment week, and you'll need to make arrangements to be on camus a week early. For an additional fee, students living in the residence halls can move in a week early.

Men: There are no formal fees to pay before you’re a member, but the trip to Manhattan for parties and paintball wars with the guys might eat up some of your summer pocket money.
After you join
What’s next? You’ll tap into your Greek side of life. You’ll get to know all the members of your fraternity or sorority at weekly chapter meetings, and meet other Greeks as you participate in community service activities, like Up ’Til Dawn, where the fraternity and sorority members raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You’ll get involved with other houses during K-State Greek traditions like homecoming, Greek Week, and the Greek awards banquet.
