Morgan Twombly

Life science and pre-health major from Highland, Kansas

An injury leads to a career

Morgan broke her finger and tore her ACL while playing basketball. The care she received influenced her to become a nurse. “The nurses would always talk to me and check on me constantly. I want to really care for my patients like that and spend time with them.”

Blocking the pain

Morgan hopes to study anesthetics in nursing school. She underwent surgery for her injuries, so she knows all about going under the knife. “I think it’s crazy you can be out for two hours and hardly know it.”

A strong stomach

Blood doesn’t scare Morgan. In fact, she gave blood for the first time this year as others around her passed out. “My cousin got really sick this last year, but she healed quickly thanks to people giving blood, so it really means a lot to me.”

Nursing misconceptions

Morgan wants students to know that nursing is for more than one gender. “I think it would be a great field for anyone to be in because people can work in whatever field they want and can move up in status the more they work.”

K-State roots

Morgan grew up in a Wildcat family, and most of her family members hold season football tickets. Morgan, who transferred from Highland Community College, always knew she’d attend K-State for its friendly vibe and array of majors. “I don’t even think going anywhere else was an option.”
