Finding your way at college isn’t complicated
That’s why there’s College Success, a roadmap to the college experience and all things K-State. Designed for high school sophomores and juniors, these seminars will put you on the path to success when you arrive for college. You’ll be fully acclimated to your surroundings once you discover these key locators.

Choose your route
Let K-Staters chart your navigational course. These directions are bound to help you avoid any potential potholes your first year and beyond. Pick three sessions—and don’t forget to enjoy the ride—all while making notes like a driving instructor.
1. Differences you can expect
You’re not in high school anymore, and college life will certainly be different. You’ll adjust to studying new subjects, meeting new people, and learning more about yourself as you grow as a student and a person. K-State, here we come! Current students clear the route and point out ways to avoid detours.
2. Money matters
Was that a caution sign or an approaching deadline? Slow down and observe how you can get a chunk of the $170 million in scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study awarded each year. Trusty guides walk you through a swarm of applications and send you in pursuit of the right ones. K-State has 1,200 scholarships worth $9 million.
3. International experiences
Travel the world—planes, trains, and automobiles—all while getting academic credit! Learn about the Office of International Programs, study abroad, National Student Exchange, and more.
4. Keeping busy
Hop in the driver’s seat! Find out how K-State’s 400-plus clubs and organizations can take you on a direct route to valuable college experiences.
5. Residence life
Bypass the uncertainty of where to live during college. Hall advisors and residents offer tips on living options, meal plans, roommates, meeting people, and studying in K-State’s nine residence halls.
6. Fraternities and sororities
Are your tastes toward a BMW, Honda, Mercedes, or Subaru? K-State’s 28 national fraternities and 17 sororities cover a variety of interests, and you can learn more about cost, selection, living conditions, leadership, and time involvement.
7. Marching band and dance team
Step to the beat of a K-State drummer. Or be one. Get info on the K-State band, flag team, dance team, and more.
8. Diversity at K-State
Pursue diversity and all its advantages with an introduction to K-State's multicultural atmosphere. Meet current leaders of multicultural student organizations and student ambassadors.
9. Parents session
The road to success: folks, this is your chance to sit down with parents of current students. Hear the secrets they wish they had known and the tips that will help your child succeed.
10. Campus tours
There’s no OnStar, but we’ll do the driving. Students show off K-State’s classrooms, Hale Library, and other key places like Career and Employment Services, Academic Assistance Center, and McCain Auditorium.
11. Becoming a leader
Get insider tips that will put you on the fast track to success. Learn how you can lead the way for other K-State students.
12. Finding the right fit for college
You can be your own person around K-State and you won’t get lost in the crowd. We have all the resources of a bigger university, and 90 percent of classes have fewer than 49 students.
13. More sports at K-State
Whether intramurals, club sports, or playing at the NCAA level, K-State can match your zeal for competition. And you could be our next arm wrestling champion.
14. Deciding on a major
Not sure where your career will proceed with a certain major? You’re not alone. Learn about hot careers and the K-State resources that can help.

All sessions will be held at the K-State Student Union, 17th Street and Anderson Avenue
9 to 9:30 a.m.: Registration at the K-State Student Union
9:30 to 10 a.m.: Welcome and opening session
10:05 to 10:45 a.m.: Session 1
10:50 to 11:30 a.m.: Session 2
11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Session 3
12:15 to 1:30 p.m.: Lunch/academic and information browsing
1:30 p.m.: Tours of residence halls, Recreation Complex
Cost
$20 includes all program materials and lunch
Cost for parents: $15 for lunch and parent information session
Parking
K-State is building a parking garage south of the Student Union. As a result, a shuttle runs from the east side of the Bill Snyder Family Stadium to the Union, where our special events are located. Please plan a few extra minutes in your schedule when arriving for your visit.
