Get fit at K-State

Worried about the Freshman 15? What if it were 15 new exercises you learned? Or 15 cool people you met during miniature golf intramurals? Or even 15 pounds you lost? Make it happen by getting familiar with K-State Rec Services and other healthy habits.

Intramurals

Intramurals are not only a good way to stay in shape—they can also help you get to know your neighbors. Gather up a team from your residence hall and sign up for sports ranging from wallyball to sand volleyball to ultimate frisbee.

The natatorium

If working up a sweat isn’t your thing, check out the classes at the Nat. Try an aqua exercise or deep water fitness class. Swim laps at your leisure. Then show off your acrobatic abilities on the diving boards.

Get a personal trainer

Not motivated to exercise? K-State doesn’t offer any drill sergeants, but a personal trainer can whip you right into shape. At Rec Services, you can hire a personal trainer to design an exercise schedule suited to your body and goals. Just remember, Rec Services are free, but a personal trainer will cost you.

Eat healthy

No college student can avoid pizza forever, but make sure you get plenty of healthy food into your diet, too. Housing and Dining Services offers FitCourse, a program that promotes healthy eating through nutrition counseling. This information is also available through the Rec.

Walk to class

Resist the temptation to get a ride to your classes. You’ll thank yourself later when your legs are in Olympic athlete shape. Besides, you might not think traffic jams happen in eastern Kansas, but when classes let out, you’ll get where you’re going much faster by foot. Trust us.
