Activities at the Union

Your days at K-State will begin at the Union with orientation, enrollment, and a considerable down payment on your first round of textbooks. But the Union is more than your one-stop shop for books and supplies—it’s also K-State’s entertainment capital. What brings more than 17,000 people through the Union every day? Keep reading.

Special events

If you’ve been watching VH1 reruns, you might have noticed Mo Rocca wearing a K-State T-shirt. Now where do you suppose he got that? Rocca is just one of dozens of comedians—including Bill Cosby, Tracy Morgan, and Lewis Black—who have spoken at K-State through the Union Program Council. And you can bet your student ticket will cost you less than seeing these big names in the Big Apple.

Festival of Nations

The Festival of Nations invites students and faculty to experience ethnic dancing, music, and cuisine from all over the world over the lunch hour. Stop by for a lunch outside your usual routine of greasy pizza, and learn something about another culture while you’re there.

Activities Carnival

Don’t spend your entire college life cooped up in the res halls. Find the clubs that match your interests at the Activities Carnival, held during the first week of classes each semester. Get to know the activities and members of organizations from the Amateur Radio Club to College Republicans.

K-State Idol

It’s like “American Idol,” but without the commercial breaks. Come cheer on your favorite contestant or bust out some Mariah Carey shrieks and enter the competition yourself!

Recreation

Got a couple of hours between classes? Grab a friend and head to the basement for cheap bowling or pool. Sixteen lanes and 13 full-size pool tables mean you’ll almost never have to wait. Not a pool shark? Try your hand at air hockey, table soccer, a full-swing golf simulator, video and pinball machines, and more.

Bon appetit

Yeah, you’ve eaten in a food court, but have you ever sat down for lunch with Willie the Wildcat? The Union food court is the undeclared meeting ground for students, faculty, and even mascots from all over K-State. After lunch, walk to Caribou Coffee for a double scoop of Call Hall ice cream or grab a cup of coffee.
