Where the jobs are

Working while you go to school is not unusual. It’s what most K-Staters do. Here’s a rundown of the biggest employers on campus.

Residence halls

800 jobs range from mail clerks to food service workers to painters.

Bonus: To go to work, you might not have to leave the building.

Bramlage Coliseum

350 jobs include ushers, ticket takers, security staff, and clean-up workers for basketball games and concerts.

Bonus: Many of these jobs are at night or on weekends.

K-State Student Union

350 students work in the food court, catering office, bookstore, recreation area, and computer store.

Hale Library

160 students wait on students, shelve books, look up reference materials, troubleshoot computer problems, and do general office work.

180 students help with moving and hauling, maintaining buildings, and landscaping.

About 30 students per semester tutor other students in more than 100 different subjects.

Academic departments

Almost every department hires students. Among the biggest: animal sciences, biology, and agronomy together hire around 400 students. Jobs range from lab assistants to soda jerks.
