Tricks to saving money

It’s no secret that most college students are broke. The trick to survival is learning to save a few dollars here and there by shopping at dollar stores, riding your bike to class, and buying used books.

Stretch a dollar

We’ve all heard it: “I’m broke because I’m in college.” It’s true, but by pinching pennies you can stretch a dollar further than ever before. Shop at dollar stores, save your change, and check the Collegian for deals and specials around town.

Save gas

Do you live within walking distance of campus? Then get off your bum and walk or ride a bike to class. It’s great exercise, and you save tons of cash.

Catch UPC movies

Are you sick of paying $8 to see the latest Hollywood bomb? The Union Program Council plays movies every weekend in the Union for only $1!

Buy cheap food

Are you sick of McDonald’s, but you can’t afford steak? To save money on food, buy groceries with your roommate. You can make dinner together and save the leftovers for another meal.
