How to bond with your roomie

Not every roommate pair is a match made in heaven. But with a little patience, the two of you can become buddies (or at least coexist peacefully).

Head to Wal-Mart (or K-Mart, or Target, or the grocery store) together

You two might have nothing in common, but sooner or later, everyone needs to get something from the store.

Find a common TV show

Whether it’s watching Adult Swim or keeping up with “Desperate Housewives,” there’s nothing like taking a break from the reality of homework.

Go to the rec together

But don’t think you have to work out together. Just walking there is enough time to catch up.

Set up your own rituals

Friday afternoon trips to Caribou Coffee for cappuccinos or late-night Sonic runs can make a roommate relationship memorable.

Celebrate the unimportant

A’s on tests, finding $5 in your coat pocket, whatever. Any reason is a good reason to have fun.

Eat your meals together

Nothing sucks worse than not having a buddy to eat with. Try to synch your schedules for one meal a day.
