It’s such a headache. Who’s my roommate? Who is cleaning the kitchen? Is she going to be loud? Is he going to make his payments on time?
Pick up your socks, do your dishes, and clean the shower. Living with a roommate is about communication. When you get to know your roommate, set the ground rules for cleaning. It’ll save so much time later!

It’s never cool to come home and find your roommate has swiped your favorite snack. Clearly mark your food and respect each other’s belongings.

There’s the water bill, the gas bill, the cable bill, the list is endless. Decide whose name the bills will be under, and get your money in on time. Cold showers are no fun!

Find a roommate who operates at the same decibel level as you. If you like quiet time when you are studying, you don’t want to be stuck with a party animal. Be sure to check this out before you move in.

Some students only require four hours of sleep each night, so staying up until dawn playing computer games is no problem. But for the rest of us non-insomniacs, we need a good night’s sleep to be functional for our 8:05 a.m. biology lab. When choosing a roommate, consider each other’s sleeping schedules, because bags under your eyes are never attractive.
