Being a Wildcat means more than attending K-State. It means you love purple, you love Willie, and you've recently named the campus squirrels as your favorite animal.
You can never, ever own too many purple things as a K-State student. You can start your purple collection with the free T-shirt you’ll nab at orientation.

K-Staters go wild for the mysterious mascot who does push-ups for every point scored at football games. Students try out to be Willie, but the winner’s identity is never revealed.

In the Nichols Hall fire of 1968, the K-State marching band lost most of its instruments and sheet music—all except the “Wabash Cannonball.” When the band overcame the challenge of finding new instruments, they played Wabash at the next game. Today students “do the Wabash”—rocking back and forth like maniacs—whenever it’s played.

K-State’s doors swing wide open to the community every April—and over 20,000 people come to campus to see what we're all about. Largely run and planned by students, Open House is often emulated by other schools, but never duplicated.

You’ll have the rest of your life to eat that. Load up on Call Hall ice cream, the K-State treat that’s fresher and creamier than any store-bought brand.
Our favorite flavor: Purple Pride.

As in squirrels. They’re such a fixture on the K-State campus that the student newspaper devotes a photo spread to the little critters each year. Our campus has even won the coveted “five-squirrel rating” in the Campus Squirrel Listings.
