Transferring from a school where you've been comfortable is like getting out of bed on a frigid day. Once you've done it, you're good to go. Following these smart tips will help you warm up to K-State.
Transfer students are often set on their major, but with more than 250 majors and options, it's tempting to change. You might want to focus your major—
like switching from biology to fisheries and wildlife biology—or you might discover a major like family financial planning that you never knew existed.

Admissions experts call it “transfer equivalency,” but students call it “the list of how my courses will transfer.” When you enroll at K-State your advisor can go through this information with you, but you can check it out online before then.
Check the transfer equivalency tables

Transfer students know the college ropes but are sometimes slow to get involved on campus. If you’re interested in the soccer club, Amnesty International, or any of K-State’s 400 campus groups, don’t miss the Activities Carnival during the first week of classes. Most clubs sponsor an info table where you can meet their members and learn about upcoming events.

Want the freedom of apartment life with the convenience of living on campus? Check out K-State’s new on-campus apartments. Unlike other cookie-cutter complexes in town, Jardine gives you hundreds of floor plans to choose from including spacious doubles and city-style lofts.

K-State’s prized combo ticket—football and men’s basketball—sells out every year. So if you want to be surrounded by rabid purple fans, buy your combo ticket when you enroll in April or June.

Follow this advice from the generations of transfer students who have gone before you! Expect the classes to be harder than at your community college. Always read all those chapters on the syllabus (trust us, that info will be on the test). Enjoy the Aggieville social scene—but only after you’ve finished studying (trust us, Aggieville is never on the test).
